Statistical component model to identify associations between chemicals and toxicological effects

The Aalto University, Karolinska Institute and Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland have collaborated to create a systematic data-driven analysis to draw statistical links between chemicals and the effect of their molecular toxins. This study included information on more then 1300 known pharmaceutical molecules to create large databases that can more accurately predict the toxicity of new molecules. With this new form of statistical modelling, animal testing can be largely replaced for future toxicity tests.
